Long before a Windsong Properties homeowner ever receives his or her keys, Brian Dubuc already is diligently laying the groundwork for long-term satisfaction.
As the active adult community developer’s primary legal partner – and an unofficial ambassador for incoming homebuyers – since it first opened its doors in 2003, Dubuc ensures that both individual properties and entire communities meet both Windsong’s high standards and customers’ expectations.
Every generation has its “standout moment,” a significant event that everyone in that generation remembers and claims. Sunday, July 20, 1969 was that event for the Baby Boomer generation, as Boomers – then ages 8 through 23 – gathered around television sets and watched as Apollo 11 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong became the first humans to land on the surface of the moon.
July is one of the most vacation-friendly months on the calendar, and with the July 4 holiday there’s also plenty of opportunity to socialize with friends and family. But it is also designated as National Anti-Boredom Month, when millions of Americans find the lack of a daily routine excruciating.
Thankfully, boredom is alleviated when the mind and body are properly stimulated, and when you have clear goals. Boredom-Busters include:
Since Baby Boomers have redefined pretty much every aspect of our society, creating two-income households, pursuing secondary education, and changing the expectations for health care, environmental practices, food industry, retirement, and housing, it is no wonder that Boomers have had an impact on the way we celebrate our holidays, as well.
A Boomer Poem, inspired by Fats Domino’s “I’m Walkin’”
I’m walkin’ down the street, and talkin’ about just how sweet
It is livin’ this Active life with ease
Enjoyin’ new friends I meet, and lovin’ the company
I’m findin’ with neighbors right near me.
Whatcha gonna do when it’s time to retire,
With a big house that takes all your time
To mow and rake the yard and clean inside.
Take my advice and come down-size
Start livin’ this Active life with ease!
Doctors tell us to get in shape, exercise, take a walk. We all know someone who takes “power walks,” as if they are trying to hurry to get somewhere, but don’t have the desire to break into a run. These forms of walking are great if you have a destination or goal in mind.
And then there’s the saunter.
Although June 1 has already passed (can you believe it?!), hiking trails close to home make this an activity in which Boomers can participate anytime they like. Best of all, it’s not an age-specific activity, so it’s a great way for grandparents to bond with grandchildren who are out of school for the summer, and for pet owners to enjoy some exercise with their dogs (check trail websites before taking pets. All of the trails listed on this blog are dog-friendly).
We don’t have to tell you that it’s hot outside, but we do have some cool ideas to help transform your patio and courtyard spaces into the perfect place to chill out during the summer months, with your morning coffee, hosting friends for lunch, or enjoying the latest book club pick.
If you are into theme gardens, you might want to try one of these:
Throughout history, the “elders” of a family or community have been valuable members of society because of their life experience and ability to share their knowledge and skills with younger members of the group.
Fortunately, Americans are living longer, healthier lives, and a plethora of opportunities await them, to share what they have spent their lives learning, practicing, or observing.
