When we think about what makes a great kitchen, the first things that come to mind include modern appliances, proper lighting, ample storage, and a central space that makes the kitchen the heart of the home.
We think about how we will use the space, but rarely consider how the space will work for us.
March is Nutrition Month, so it’s the perfect time to give your kitchen makeover
The sun doesn’t care what time we humans say it is. The birds are still going to start singing with the dawn – whether it occurs at 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. And your dog or cat is still going to be staring at you, waiting for breakfast at “tummy time,” since their internal clocks don’t leap forward (or fall back).
Either way, this Sunday, at 1:59 a.m., we will Spring Forward one hour, “losing an hour of sleep,” as we participate in this century-old tradition.

Who complains about this shortest month?
The weather unpredictable
One holiday, celebrating love
Once broken, is it fixable?
Romantic love, a love of friends,
February is National Bird-Feeding Month, which makes sense, as several varieties of migrating birds begin their annual trek as soon as trees and shrubs begin setting buds.
If you’ve had bird feeders out all winter, you will have noticed the non-migrating birds, like blue jays, woodpeckers, and the like, have enjoyed the feast. But they’ll soon have to share as robins, tanagers, grosbeaks, thrushes, and orioles start on their journeys to northern climes.
February is the month we associate with Valentines, candy hearts, heart-health awareness, and more, but one of the best celebrations of the month is De-Cluttering!
If you live in Georgia, you’ve likely seen – and relate to – the cartoon about dressing for the weather in one winter week: Sunday, short sleeves; Monday, sweatshirt; Tuesday, winter coat; Wednesday, shorts & flip-flops; Thursday, t-shirt and jeans; Friday, swimwear; Saturday, layers with scarf and hat.
We may complain a bit about the summer heat, but at least we know how to dress when it isn’t winter!
Aside from the physical features of a home, including a spacious kitchen, plenty of storage, and a peaceful owner’s suite, Active Adults cite a comfortable space to entertain friends and family as a top priority.
Spacious guest rooms and an open floor plan where the kitchen is the heart of the home are just part of the appeal. Outdoor living has become one of the biggest trends, particularly over the past three years, when visiting indoors was limited.
Porches, patios, and especially courtyards provide the perfect places for a quick visit between neighbors and are desirable spaces to host larger gatherings.
It’s easy to feel festive, creative, and fun at the end of the year, with the lights, music, food, friends, and holidays stacked like dominoes from October through January first.
Come January second, though… the weather is iffy, it’s time to take down (and store!) all the holiday decorations (and find a place to take the Christmas tree before needles find their way into every corner of the house), and it feels like we need something to get us through till Daylight Saving Time. (March 12, by the way. Just 8 weeks away. We can do this!)
